🎥 How to Use the Sauna + Wood Stove (Video Guides)
To help you feel confident and relaxed during your session, I’ve created a few short videos demonstrating:
- How to operate the wood stove safely
- How to manage airflow and heat levels
- How to use the sauna space, the stream, and the outdoor areas
You can watch them here:
Using the wood-fired sauna at Stone City (this is a bit out of date, but gives you a sense of it. It will be updated soon and sent out to you again).

🔥 If You Opt for the Sauna Prep Add-On
If time is tight or you’d like to arrive to a fully warmed and prepared space, you can select the Sauna Prep Add-On during checkout. This option is available only during select time windows and is $50 per session. Reserve the time one-hour before your sauna time starts. If the time doesn't look like it's available, please reach out and we can coordinate directly.
🧺 What to Bring
While we do provide a towel, robe, and flip flops/slippers for you, you may want to consider bringing:
- An additional towel (or two if you plan to cold plunge)
- Bathing suit (optional)
- Water bottles
- Flip-flops or winter-safe footwear, if you prefer your own
- Warm outer layers for stepping outside between rounds
- Optional: a favorite robe, hydrating snacks, extra layers for fire bowl lounging
❄️ Winter Access Notes
Our sauna is located down a short woodland path. In winter conditions, please:
- Allow extra time for arrival
- Wear boots with traction
- Use caution near the stream and always have a buddy when accessing. The stream does freeze over during winter and I don't keep it open.
- Bring layers for warming between hot rounds
If you are ever unsure about snow or road conditions, just reach out.
💫 Consider joining the Sauna Circle!
If you’ve already reserved a Streamside Sauna Session, you’ll experience how deeply restorative it can be to step into the warmth, breathe in the cedar, and slow down beside the stream. The 12 Fires Sauna Circle is an invitation to turn that singular experience into a monthly ritual — one that supports your body, nervous system, and seasonal rhythm all year long. Regular sauna use is known to help ease stress and tension, improve sleep, support circulation, and build resilience through the changing seasons.
Beyond the wellness benefits, membership comes with meaningful perks: priority access, a significantly reduced cost, and the flexibility to bring up to three guests each visit. Members also receive special discounts on additional sauna bookings, discounts on booking the Treehouse or Pebble Tent, making it easy to return more often or share the experience with friends. If the Streamside Sauna Session stays with you after you leave, the Sauna Circle offers a beautiful way to deepen the practice and the value.
The Sauna Circle is closed for 2025 and will reopen for 2026 in October!
Thank you! 🔥
I can’t wait to welcome you into the warmth of the sauna, the quiet woods, and the rhythm of this monthly ritual. If you have any questions at all — or ideas or feedback — please feel free to reach out anytime.
With warmth (literally and figuratively),
Heather
